How Does the BRAC Work
The system collects the gray water from the showers/baths, bathroom sinks and washing machines through a pre-filter installed in a 3" pipe going into the BRAC system. This pre-filter is primarily used for removing the lint produced by the washing machine but also hair from other sources - it's use reduces the number of times you will need to clean the internal filter.
The water is filtered to a 100 Micron level, treated with a minimal amount of chlorine and stored in the BRAC tank.
The automated water monitor in the system treats the water in the tank with chlorine to keep it safe and disinfected. If you are away from the home for more than 12 hours or on vacation it will treat the gray water to keep it disinfected
( check chlorine levels before leaving on vacation).
If all the gray water is used up in meeting the homes needs the unit's water is kept at a safe level by providing a water makeup from either the fresh water supply for the home or in many cases rainwater storage.
The BRAC system can be used to flush toilets or be used for irrigation - this varies by location and should be confirmed with your local building inspector.
With it's electronic pump the system will provide water at pressures of from 30- 50 PSI and can deliver up to 10 gallons per minute.
Maintenance
Clean filter every 2-4 weeks – vinegar (Residential)
Clean filters every week – (Commercial)
Use Calcium HypoChlorite(CHC) tablets (longer lasting) in the automated chlorinator which can last up
to three (3) months on one filling.
Water Savings
Reduces potable water use by 30 – 40% and wastewater by 30 - 40%
